These terms apply when you buy a microcredential course on the IH Teach English website. IH Teach English provides the course, your access to it, support, the badge and, where relevant, the certificate. The payment is handled by Link, a Stripe company, which is the seller of record for the purchase (see section 8). Please read these terms before you pay – you are asked to accept them at checkout.

1. What you are buying

A microcredential is a short, self-paced online course. You study on your own, at your own pace, with no live sessions and no fixed start date. The information on the individual course page tells you how long the course takes to complete, what it covers and details about assessment and certification.

Each place is for one named learner. Course access is personal to that learner and cannot be shared, resold or transferred to another person.

A school or organisation can buy several places at once and name the learner for each place after paying, through the private link we send to the buyer. To reassign a course already assigned to someone, please email ihotti@ihworld.com – it cannot be reassigned through the link.

2. Getting access

Once your payment is confirmed, you will receive an email to the address you provided at checkout with details on how to access the course. Make sure the email address you provide is correct to ensure you have no issues with access.

If the email has not arrived within 10 minutes, check your spam folder first, then contact us at ihotti@ihworld.com for support.

3. How long your access lasts

You have six weeks to complete the course, counted from the day you receive your access email. After this the system automatically closes the access. For a place purchased by an organisation for someone else, the access starts from the day the place is assigned to the learner. Within that period you can study whenever you like and return to the material as often as you need.

4. Your right to change your mind

You have 14 days from the day you buy a course to change your mind and request a full refund, provided you have not accessed the course content.

As the course is digital and we provide access immediately, your right to cancel is terminated once you access the course content.

To request a refund, email ihotti@ihworld.com with your order number. Once approved, the refund will be issued by Link to your original payment method, including any applicable tax. It may take 5 to 10 working days to appear on your statement. When a course is refunded, your access to it will end.

5. Refunds in case of an issue

The 14-day cancellation period above applies when you change your mind. It does not affect your rights if something is wrong with the course.

If you cannot access the course, the content is faulty, or the course does not match its description on our website, please contact us at ihotti@ihworld.com. We will work with you to resolve the problem.

If we cannot resolve the problem, you may be entitled to a refund, even if you have already accessed or started the course.

6. Credentials

Upon successful completion of a microcredential, you will receive a digital badge. Upon completing five microcredentials (either all from one strand or one microcredential from five different strands) and a self-reflection task, you will receive a certificate. Certificates are issued in the name given at checkout, so please make sure it is the name you want to appear on it.

7. Changes to a course

We keep our courses up to date, so the material may be improved while you have access. We will not remove a course you have already paid for during your access period. If we ever have to, we will tell you and refund the part you did not use.

8. Prices and payment

The price of each course is £37.50 before tax. The price displayed on our website for UK customers is £45, including UK VAT at 20%.

For customers outside the UK, applicable local taxes will be calculated according to the rules in the relevant country. The final price, including any applicable taxes, will be clearly displayed at checkout before you pay.

Payment is handled by Link, a Stripe company, through Stripe Managed Payments, which is the merchant of record for every purchase on this website. In the countries where Stripe Managed Payments covers tax, Link also calculates, collects and remits the taxes that apply in your country and issues the tax invoice. In countries outside that coverage, International House World Organisation (IHWO) is responsible for any applicable taxes, and the invoice is issued in IHWO’s name.

Link processes the payment and emails you the receipt and the invoice. Your card or bank statement will show LINK.COM.

If you buy a course for a business or organisation, you can enter its VAT or tax number on the payment page, where this option is available.

You may be offered the option to pay in your own currency. The amount and exchange rate will be shown before you pay.
